Anyone else have an opinion on getting an extended warranty? 2009 650 vert. 13K mls.
Anyone have any advice: just bought a 2009 650 convertible with 13,000 mls. One owner, clean record, mint condition. Drives like a dream and no problems....yet.
Warranty expires March 2013. Do i get an extended warranty? If the answer is yes, which one should i get? I could afford an expensive repair once in a while but don't want to be dumping $$ in the car frequently. I am concerned that with the low miles, i may not really need the warranty for a long time but if i don't buy the warranty by a certain date after March, i cant get it or there will be some kind of limitations on it. What to do?

First congrats. Second, I would recommend getting an extended warranty - specifically for any major components. Start with your dealership- do some research on the company that provides the insurance they resell.
Also, if you have a good relationship with your SA, ask him/her about whether they are worth their value. There are a number of discussions on this topic in the main 6 forum. Do a search there on "extended warranty". There are some real stories with results.

Actually BMW in Fla offers a Liberty Mutual extended warranty that I got with my 2007 650i.....you have a choice on the type of coverage and deductable.....I paid a bit more for the 100,000 6 yr bumper to bumper warranty.....I have used it a number of times without any problem. Sensors are covered.....

J,
Thanks for the info but I called Liberty Mutual and they say do not carry an "extended warranty" product. They said they only provide regular auto insurance but bcs. they are a "preferred" BMW insurance provider, that you get some extra perks. So unless they are not telling me something, I don't think this counts as a true extended warranty.

With ur car mileage i would prefer Platinum from BMW. Peace of mind. Fast and easy. I got 09' but mine 60k miles now. Lucky that I choose BMW. My Nav DVD got problem twice. It would cost me 5000 without the warranty.

Recommend: Nick Harter Patrick BMW / Mini Main: 847-843-4000 Direct: 847-310-4331 Fax: 847-843-4022 NHarter@PatrickCars.com Backed by BMW, no third party issues, just go to the bimmer dealer...car fixed ......Best $3.6 or $4.3 you'll ever spend! Yes, you need to act BEFORE the original warranty expires, or the coverage is substantially reduced. Last edited by Mythplaced; 11-03-2012 at 09:03 AM. |
