Miles v km...has this happened to anyone else?

Ok...this is driving me crazy. Every once and a while (about every 3 weeks or so), the car will switch from showing miles to kilometers with no warning (on the odometer and miles til empty in the display on the dash). When it happens, I go into the idrive to make sure the car is on miles, and sure enough, it is....yet the dash is still showing kilometers. It will happen in the middle of a drive unexpectedly, and as soon as I shut the car off, then turn it back on again its back to miles and all is well. I had the battery replaced last August and the car isn't showing low voltage/battery/decrease or reset in the time or anything like that - so I am not thinking it is the battery (again). Any thoughts?

I've had this happen to me, but not while driving. Sometimes my wife will drive to work with her key. We arrive, she turns off the car, and goes off to work. I immediately start the car with my key and I get the kilometers. I go into iDrive and check - it is on miles. I can click on miles and it will reset back, or if I turn off the car and back on again it goes back to miles.

thanks for the reply....even if I click on the miles in the idrive it wont go back. And it only happens on my key, and not on my husband's. Now that I think about it, this morning I had to drop my husband off at the airport, he drove with his key, then when he got out, I switched the key to mine, then noticed a few min later it was on km. So I guess it happened when we switched the keys this morning....but I have noticed it switching mid-drive too. Weird.

There is a TSB for this issue. Ask your SA to check the TSBs.

SI B62 04 08
Date of issue September 2008

Unfortunately it's the CCC software. Only thing to do is to let the car go to sleep for more than 16 minutes.
