If you are talking about trading your car in, yes you will get the MSD back.

But if you are talking about trading your lease to someone else, I am guessing you wouldn't get the MSD back until the lease ends.

If you *pay off* the car, MSD comes back.

If you *transfer* the lease, MSD stay with the lease... so the person taking it over gets them at the end. That's why MSD are a bit more complicated on transfers as you need to give up the money or find a buyer that will pay you at time of transfer.
