E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

What part is different between the seta and I exhaust

Not sure which exhaust the seta got. Is it duals all the way, or is there a merge to singe? Measure the diameter of the pipes coming off the manifold.
My budget stroker would walk stock m50's in an e30, but it wasn't just slapping the head on. I put a thinner gasket, ported and shaved the head down to the max, had an adjustable cam gear, custom exhaust etc. Sure it didn't cost me much, but have more resources than most. Wish I had gotten one more dyno run before the accident. Anyone who rode in or drove my car said it was an m20 freak as far as budget strokers go - and that was with the 2.93 third member. It's a toss up on cost/time for modifying an m20 vs a swap. The m20 stuff bolts in, the m50 needs more stuff done to bolt it in. To properly build an m20, sure, it's cheaper to swap. I have $2500 in the new m20 build just between parts and machining. 10.5:1 Ross pistons, HD rockers, balanced/blue printed rotating assembly, 284 cam with matching springs, custom valve job, all new gaskets/bearings/oil pump, decked/bored/honed block etc etc. All that for 200-ish WHP. On the other hand, also building a proper forged s50 that has about $4k in parts and machining only. The gapless ring alone were $500, that block was align bored/decked/bored/honed/resized rod ends, balanced to 9k rpm, heavy valve springs, super lightweight lifters, custom valve job, 8.5:1 forged pistons, new bearings etc, ARP main/rod/head studs. Adds up fast. Since we have been around a lot of Spec racers, you wouldn't believe the money spent on a stock m20 just to get 160whp. To the tune of $5k for a .020" over balanced/blue printed engine with all new valvetrain etc. |

Sump pump is running strong. A lot of water coming into the basement. Which will be a problem when we lose power.

Never lost power. Kinda lame. South eastern PA didn't get the storm bad. New York may take a while to recover.

On a good note, none of my cars were damaged ... Although, I wouldn't mind if the e36 had a tree land on it.

My e36 has been for sale since 2 days after I purchased it. I dislike it THAT much.
You live in an area where they happen often, I live in an area where they don't happen. My city requires residents to have "historic" 80ft trees lining the roads so the town can "look better". When I say my city "requires" trees ... I mean there is up to a $1000 fine and a year in jail if you remove one without the citys permission. Even if you do manage to get a permit to cut down a tree, you are required to plant another tree in it's place or you face the charges above as well. Do you know what those trees do to all of the power lines and poles running 2 feet away from them on every single block? Last year when we had a power outrage it took Weeks, not days to repair. The hurricane hit us way Harder than the storm last year.

well its a lot quicker than my old M52 E30 was and a lot more comfortable while its doing it too lol. Obviously the E30s can outhandle it though. Coilovers or not, its still 1800kg or so to throw around!
At a track day last month i managed lower laptimes than a fellow bimmersport.co.nz members standard manual E46 M3. I walked all over it on the straights which surprised me as much as him, but he could catch in the chicane corners in the middle of the track, even though i was on semislicks and he was on ContiSports S54 would have been easier and more power for the money spent.... but its still not a V12 lol

that can all easily just be driver error tho. i used to like the old v12's because they are in every junkyard here for less than $300 complete from maf to flywheel. i couldnt justify the purchase because they are god aweful heavy and don't have nearly as much hp as they should for being a v12.
