How much is it to replace rear brake pads on a 645 ci 2005

If you go to a dealer they will charge you $132 for the pads, $27 for the sensor and $170x2 for rotors if you need those (90% of the time dealer will recommend new rotors). Plus probably 2 hours labor.

You can get Akebono low dust rear pads for $76 at Tireack and have an indie mechanic install them for about 1 hour worth of labor. Good Centric aftermarket rotors go for $83 each.

Dealer in Hawaii quoted me $1200 just for the rear which included pads, rotors, sensor, and labor. I was already going to do the work myself I just wanted to see what they would charge for the job.

Holy cow! You guys in Hawaii really have to pay for the privilege to live in paradise.

We pay for the privilege to only have one dealer on island who takes advantage of that. Parts here are marked up so high that I usually have to go in and fight for the price that they should be. For example I had to pay $48 for my rear brake sensor. They are crazy I think that I am going to start buying my parts from Cali and having them shipped to me.

sounds like a good idea - when you go down that path, you might also try quotes from a few other states or online shops (including forum sponsors) as you might find a cheaper deal even with the slightly higher cost of shipping (although west coast isn't Hawaii cost, it is higher than south/midwest/online). my sister lived in Hawaii for a few years and always had a few stories about outrageous costs.
