Parking Assistant Installation

I asked the sales person who sold me my car and 2 different people in the service department this question, it's been 4 days and still no ansewer.

I made a mistake and thought that Parking Assistant (the car parallel parks itself) was part of the Driver Assistance Package. After failing a couple times to have the car park itself I realized this was a seperate option. I wish the dealer had pointed this out when I was buying the car and decided I didn't need Parking Assistant because I was getting Driver Assistance.

Anyway, long story short, all I want to know is, can you get Parking Assistant installed post production?

Not even sure I want it, but just want to know if I have the option at this point.

Not as far as I know. It would require adding a bunch of equipment and wiring if the harness is different.

Ha, yeah. They got back to me. Said its cost prohibitive and would be around $8k if I had to have it.

The DAP comes with 5 cameras right? I can't imagine you not being able to parallel park with 5 cameras and top down view.

Cameras and sensors everywhere. It's definitely not needed. I'm just a tech nerd and think its cool and would have spent $700 extra dollars on it compared to $8,000 to add it now.

I got Parking Assist for one reason only, I'm a tech nerd and I wanted to see it park itself first hand. It is quite impressive. A few of my friends who are big petrol heads too were also impressed by it.

I had a product called Curb Alert installed in the front of my Corvette ZO6 for about $450 installed. It has a sensor and an alarm for inside the cabin. It can be adjusted to whatever distance you want to stop so you don't hit the concrete parking barriers.

I also saw somewhere a product that was advertised that can be installed into cars with GPS and there is a camera, etc.

This is the exact reason I wanted to get it on the Bimmerfest project 328i but we messed up the order not realizing it was a stand alone option. I thought it was part of the driver assistance package or something like that. I got to play around with the TMS 335i project F30 and it is a cool feature. I probably wouldn't use it that often but I would have still ordered it if I could do it over again.
