They replaced all 4 tires with new contis, the dealership noticed they were also not perfectly round so they replaced all 4 tires with Michelin primacy mx4s. The car rides great, so far, it appears the problem was fixed.
fyi, the mx4's are all season tires.

Angry Trade Assist Question

As I last reported BMWNA approved a "Trade Assist" OR a "Buy Back" over a week ago. Last Friday I went to the dealership to plead my case to the Sales Manager when I was only offered to purchase a 5 series at $500 over invoice. He was still waiting for the BMW District Regional Mgr to give him info on the "trade assist" at the time I spoke to him. I was so MAD that I called the GM of the dealership on Saturday to ensure they knew how I felt about this situation.
My POINT is: BMW was made aware of the "potential" steering wheel vibration in Feb 2012. Obviously they didn't test my car between 40mph to 60mph. IF they had, they would have detected the defect. IF they had told me about the defect on the day of the sale, I would have KEPT my 328 convertible and NOT purchased my 2013 328. The dealership wouldn't have MADE MONEY on my convertible - I would have KEPT IT!!!! So offering me a 5 series at $500 over invoice is a SLAP in my face.

Yesterday my SA emailed me, asking to obtain my payoff. I'm hoping to hear from them today on what they are going to offer. IF it isn't to my liking, I'm walking away from BMW.

Can anyone else share with me what they've been offered in relation to a "Trade Assist?"

I got a 335i at invoice.

Was paying 600 a month for my 328. now paying 560 for the 335. Im happy with how my dealer has handled the situation.

Heard back from the GM this afternoon and BMWNA is offering up more of a discount and they won't charge me for mileage on my 2013 328. Ordered a 528 about to go into production with the same packages I ordered on my 328 - splurged on the Multi-contour seats. I'm very pleased with the offer.

FYI - the GM told me when he spoke to BMWNA that they have a "fix" and they will be shipping the parts to dealers to perform said fix. He told them that he didn't want to even discuss that fix with me since I've been put through so much trouble already.

BMW and Fields BMW in Lakeland were very fair with me - I'm a happy camper now.

I wouldn't say congratulations (since it would have been ideal that you didn't go through this whole vibration issue) but in any case I am glad that your are finally finding a good outcome for all your troubles!

When are you expecting to take delivery on the 5?

Does it seem strange they say they have a fix but are buying back your car?

So did we establish that Dynamic suspension cars don't have this issue or is it a hit and miss.

Yes, seems strange when he called me back to give me the "final" offer on my Trade Assist that BMW has found a fix. They could have cancelled my Trade Assist deal on the 5 series but the GM said that he wouldn't do that to me with all the trouble I've experienced. THAT made me happy along with the Trade Assist deal they gave me on the 5series. That is FAIR.

Don't recall any posts reporting this problem from owners with adaptive suspension.

Picked up my i335 yesterday... NO DH, 19", MSPORT, Sport AT, and XDRIVE. Have been driving it a good bit and have tried 40-60mph many times, no vibration at all so far. So no DH, but yes to XDrive... without going back through the posts, not sure if that combo has been reported as having the issue. So far so good for me.

I will add +1 to Rick955. Picked up my 2013 335 xdrive almost a week ago. Have about 700 km (434 miles) on it No adaptive suspension and no vss. I cannot detect any wheel vibration. Should note that it came with the 18" all season Pirelli Cinturo P7's, but right from the dealer it has been riding on 17" Pirelli Sotozero II winter tires.

So Justin do you have the steering vibration on your new 335?

Honker, how does the car feel on the Sottozeros? Mine came with the 19" Potenza S000's and I love em... but I bought a set of Sottozero's on 18" rims and will soon be swapping them over. I got these because of the many good reviews not only for winter conditions, but for dry and wet performance as well. If I did have the vibration issue, I would have been interested to see if it went away after making the swap, but fortunately, that's not a concern now.

Not really. I can detect a very minor vibration but its possible that's just road feel and normal. Better than the 328.

Seems it's not an issue on the 2013s in any config. Good to know. I must say even on mine I just don't feel anything with hands on the wheel, but I can see it if I take my hands off only.

Rick, your winter wheels/tires look great! What is the total cost for those including TPMS etc? Thanks.

So turns out that I drive mostly either city roads at 45 and under, or highway at 60 and over. But today there was a stretch of traffic on the highway doing 50-something iirc, and I noticed a strange feel from the steering wheel. Yep, the vibration! I was surprised at how strong it was. :-/

Tirerack, everything, including TPM, and the BWM caps for the wheels, mounted and balanced, $1750 total w/tax. Because Tirerack's warehouse is right here in my town, I saved the $100 shipping cost and just picked them up. The tires also have a $50 rebate so $1700 in the end.

That is outstanding, I think I will order the same. They look so good I was thinking they'd be around $3k-$4k from BMW.

Thanks!!!

Well, i wanted wheels similar in appearance to the 403's, but not at the BMW OEM price... it's for winter after all! These are Elbrus 108's... inexpensive, look great, and they can accept the BMW caps....link here. (Sorry for getting a bit off-topic here)

My 335 xdrive came with the 397 18" wheels and Pirelli Cinturo P7 A/S and I have not yet driven on them.

Bought a set of 413 17" wheels and 225/50/17 Pirelli SotozeroII. Coming home from the dealer, a 530km (330 mile) trip they handled snow, ice, slush, wet roads @ -7C (19F), and a combination all. They gripped pretty well, and seemed to handle well. Not a lot of road noise, I am happy with them. I will need more miles on them.

However I don't really have a frame of reference to compare against as I don't know how the F30 with all seasons feels vs the winter tires. The handling is just a little softer that my old E90 xdrive, but I don't know how much of that is the winter tires and how much is the F30.

BTW, no vibration at all, at least not yet.

Those look great. Can you post a pic of them on your car when you put them on?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. There have been plenty of folks posting issues with steering wheel vibration on MY13 F30's (see RDZumbaugh's sig). I would like to hear more about the "fix" and if a TSB/SIB will be posted.
