Z4 Roadster (E85) made a video on how to change your xenon low beam bulb on 2006 z4

Hey all. Got a 2006 bmw z4 roadster. My low beam xenon bulb went out after 6 years of use. Dealership wanted too much to replace it, so I made a video on how to do it yourself. Not sure where to post this information so feel free to repost in the proper thread. good luck

Thanks for the video. Very detail. I'm a car dummie. What tools do I need to open the clip of the cover under the fender?

You only need tools to get the very first cover off; i used a putty knife but a screwdriver will probably work too. For the rest of the work you only need your hands, no other tools required.

A larger coin works well for removing the flap in the wheel well. Best access to the headlamp without removing the wheel is when the wheel is fully turned outwards (there is less room to work if it is fully turned inwards).

Thanks for the detailed video. I can see why the replacement bulb didn't work as you were replacing the Xenon D2S with what appears to be a Halogen H7 bulb. I'm surprised that you can get the ignitor back onto the H7 bulb. I thought the 2 prongs on the H7 would prevent the ignitor from going back on properly. Hoped that the wrong bulb didn't end up damaging anything.

Last time I tried to take a peek in there...I got stuck at step #1. I can't even get the outer primary flaps off

you're welcome. yea i made that h7 halogen mistake, hah, it fits nicely suprisingly, but there was a clicking sound while the electronics tried to turn on the bulb and failed. I've replaced it with the proper xenon bulb and everything works perfectly.
