Advice on coolant flush
Hi everyone
Needs some advice on coolant flush on my Z3 1.9 1999 M43 Have been experiencing cool air blowing in cabin when car idles, heats up fine when driving. Not sure when the car had coolant change as I have owned the car only a few months. Need to know where everything is...ie; drain plugs Maybe a simple step by step Was looking at this stuff at halfords Comma XStream G48 Antifreeze Concentrate 5 Litres and also somewhere mentions distilled water?? Many thanks |

It sounds like you have this problem:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=496311 If you do a search on this forum (use the button near the top right of the page that says "Search This Forum") for terms like "coolant drain" or "antifreeze" or "coolant bleed" or similar words, you should find all of the information you need. These systems mus be bled correctly. Do a search on that. Some of it will depend on how deep you want to go. Maybe you want to drain the engine block. That's a different drain. And maybe it's time to replace the water pump before it fails catastrophically taking out the engine. You should consider replacing any plastic parts in the cooling system that are original: radiator, coolant reservoir, thermostat housing, fan, and hoses. |
