Another Xenon question! Please Help!
The xenons will not ignite. Both bulbs have been replaced but nothing however the halogen part of the headlight will work (flash to pass?). In that case it would have to be the igniter or the ballast right? It looks as if one headlight has been tampered with before as it doesn't sit flush with the vehicle and the inner components aren't aligned properly. Should I fix these or put an aftermarket xenon headlight in it that has an angel eye in it? If so where is the best place to get them from? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

No advice on which aftermarket projector to put in the car even?? More often then not is there a problem with the bulb, igniter, or the ballast? Both lights are not operational so I can't swap parts and the car has around 122k miles on it. There is condensation in the drivers side headlight which I need to dry out but what can I use to reseal it?

Messed around with the headlight some more and both of the headlights are trying to self level as well as the fact that you can hear an audible clicking coming from the igniter I believe on both headlights. If the igniter is clicking it can't be the ballast? The drivers headlight has water standing in the bottom of it that you can't see from looking at the headlight from the outside but the ballast must still be operational if the igniter is getting power correct? How do you get that much water out of a headlight??

This is the igniter from the drivers side headlight which has the water in it. The passenger side headlight looks new although its sitting in the car..oddly.

Are your bulbs OE or aftermarket? It could be that your ignitor/ballast can't ignite that particular bulb?

I'm not sure as I didn't put the bulbs in the car! I will try to find out for sure though! Is there a way to tell by looking at the bulb by any chance?

No way to tell just by looking at the bulb...well...maybe. I think the OE bulb should be branded as "BMW"? I believed Philips and OSRAM may also be OE manufacturers.
HID bulbs do not have a filament, but it rely on a high voltage to create a spark between two nodes. If the gap between the nodes are wider than specs, then your ignitor/ballast won't be able to create the spark to light it. Oh...make you you have the correct bulb in there. I believed that you have D2S. Last edited by dkl; 11-04-2012 at 10:44 AM. |
