x5 M sport package?

Did anyone get the M sport package with the sports suspension and 20" rims option? Is it worth the extra $?

I read that the next gen x5 is coming out next year in 2013 as a 2014 model. So I'm a little hesitant to purchase the 2012 or 2013 x5 since the makeover is coming. Thoughts?

The rumor is newer version of diesel coming out in early cy 2014. I don't believe you get a new engine transmission with the 2014 model year gas variant. The new one is expected to be lighter than the current one. One source claimed just under two tons in which I assumed it meant to be 4500lbs or less.

It is pretty certain that you will get an electric steering. And a new fake pop up screen like the current 3 series. Most likely the front looks a convergent styling in bmw line.

The most important aspect is the new BMW is expected to be a modular platform. I don't know what it shares with. It supposed to make it cheaper for bmw. I hope that translate to better standard options.

Those are what I gathered from reading the Web while I was deciding to wait or not. What made me purchased one this year is due to poor quality reputation of bmw on new models. I prefer a more stable manufacturing line. Hopefully that decision will pay off for me.

henry, thanks for the reply. I did not know the newer models (3 and 5 and 6 series) had cheaper quality. What do you mean by that?

Did you get a great deal in SB? I went to Irvine BMW and they quoted me $60k MSRP for a 2013 35i with convenience package. They only took off $2k = $58k saying they can't go lower than that. They had more discounts on the diesel though. But I am looking for a 35i.

Lighter with cheaper price tag might make me wait till next year. I read online that the F15 will be sometimes later in 2013.

I did not say cheaper quality. Sharing platform will generally improve quality of build and materials at costs of optimization. For example, the new F10 5 series shares with 7 series. The quality has generally been great except for most reviewer feels it is less nimble of a car. There are always trade off when you share. When I mean quality, I am referring to interior looks and feel.

I got an great deal with Jon. I highly recommend him. Just email him for a quote. Last time I email him, he was out on vacation. So you probably need to be patient.

E70 is tried and true, with most bugs sorted out by now. BMW's track record with brand new models is pretty bleak. So the trade off is you can be the lost guy in your country club to buy an E70, and get a solid, dependable ride. Or you can be the first guy in the club to buy the new model, get lots of looks and appreciative comments, but run the risk of having it in the shop too much.

BTW electric steering is a HUGE negative, unless BMW does a better job with it on the X5 than they did on the RWD F10 5 Series. Spend some time on the F10 board and you will see what I mean.

If anyone here got the M sports package, I'd like to know if the suspension and 20" wheels are worth the extra $.

Do members here have the perforated/contour seats (part of Luxry package)? I wonder if they feel softer than the standard Nevada leather seats?
