CSL Wheel & Tire Fitment on a 2000 E46???

I own a 2000 BMW 323CI w/sport package and was thinking about buying the 19" M3 CSL style wheels and would like to know what tire size would look the best on the front and rear. The CSL wheels I want are 19x8.5 with a +40 offset both in the front and the rear. My car currently has the stock 225/45/17 all around.

Would staggered and non-staggered make a difference? I'm going for looks by-the-way and not performance. What is the widest tire that i can run on the CSL wheels without rub, speedo change, or have them potruding out of the fender? would 245's work for the front and 255 for the rear? Thanks guys!

When I bought my car, it had bent CSL style rims on it. The rears were 275s, and the fronts were 245s. The rears rubbed on bumps, and the fronts rubbed on sharp turns. I went back to the stock style 71s.

Was you car lowered though? If not I think I might go with 235s in the front and 255s in the rear. Thanks for your input.

Yes, I have aftermarket suspension and lowered about an inch. I currently have 255s in the rear with no problem.
