Balding roof

Hello

My roof has developed a bald spot and I cannot afford to paint the car at this time. It seems like the clear coat and paint are fading away. Is it possible for the time being just to lightly sand the area and spray black from a a can and then clear coat??

Just went through this on my kids e36. I did a light sanding (dry) then wet sanded it to
knock down the clear coat. I then sprayed it with clear coat in a can.

It's a "get what you pay for deal" but it will work.
You are only fixing the clear as the paint is OK
