It was a a very successful event.

Saturday was overcast but warm. There was still a lot of color on the trees and it was a very pleasant Autumn day. Everyone got a hot lap in the Lime Rock M3 Pace Car with Drivers Club Director/Head Coach Simon Kirkby at the wheel.

We spent Saturday afternoon on a very pleasant drive through the New England countryside with stops in a couple of quaint towns and then at Housatonic Meadows State Park for a group photo, We then headed to dinner at the Falls Village Inn,

Sunday was a bleak day and we lost a few members who stayed home to prepare for Sandy, We headed from Lakevilee (Lime Rock) to the Wall of Amerca site in Winsted CT with a stop in the picturesque town of Litchfield, We met up with a few more Festers in Winsted and Ellen Griesedicek gave us a guided tour of the Wall of America (which is a work in prigress but definitely worth seeing, Sam Posey (Ellen's husband) stopped by to say hello.

Between the hot lap auction and the genrerous contributions from the attendees we raised over $1100 for the American Mural Project.

We are definitely planning on repeating this event next year,

Thank you, Captain, for organizing this wonderful event! It was great seeing some familiar/new faces and the highlight for us were the hot laps @ LRP.

As for Sandy, we've been without power for the past 24 hours. While our house is intact, others weren't so lucky.

Here is a picture of our friend (who couldn't make the event) Peter's gazebo which rolled over the roof, from the back to the front of the house.

Awesome, CA and crew! Nice job and happy it didn't get "rained out." I'm in retrospect thankful I didn't attempt, would have been a disaster if I couldn't get back in as flights were cancelled Sunday, and had to round over the weekend, but next time!

We were certainly keeping a close watch on the weather all week as the event approached but as it turned out Saturday was overcast but otherwise a very nice Autumn day and Sunday was gray and damp but we did not hit any rain,

Strangely, all the rain on Sunday was in the opposite direction. We ran through several heavy downpours the further away we got from NYC, with most of it occurring while we were in RI.

I do like the color of that LR M3. It looks great in real life. I'll have to drive by my dealer to see if theirs is still for sale that they received about 2-3 weeks ago. It was loaded with a sticker of around $84,000+.

WOW! My wife and I were planning on going up on Sunday to join you guys in Winstead. Instead, we stayed home and prepared for the pending storm. We are still without power (on Saturday), where in CT are you? We're in Wilton.

Nope, Bemo, we're good. Got our phone and internet back yesterday, and we have the essentials, courtesy of our new generator. UI is much better than CL&P. If you look at my avatar, I'm off of exit 41 of the Merritt. Thanks for asking! Any friend of the Captain's is a friend of mine.

The Captain is a great person and likewise, any friend of his is a friend of mine!

Glad you guys are getting back to normal. Having a generator seems to be a necessity so my wife and I are currently shopping for one, and for a transfer switch.

We are off exit 47 of the Merritt, 2 miles down from Sacred Heart...keep us in mind for future emergencies...

I can envy you in one regard - you have gas with no insane lines attached to it.
My friend came up from Shelton and brought me five gallons, with whatever I had left it was enough to make a run to Stamford, and fill up.

I am glad everyone is safe.

Funny!

You know, open the 3 photos in different tabs, then step through the tabs in order. Lots of leaves change between the first and second pictures as most people go back to their cars, then just 2 lines in the leaves between the second and third pictures as Alex and I go back to ours.

I noticed the same thing when I was scrolling through the photos this AM

This past Monday I stopped at Costco in Milford to fill up with regular in my Accord. I was there at 6:30 AM, and they were out of regular. I guess that the folks from NY swooped in over the weekend. There was a sign on each pump saying that they were out of regular, and that they're charging the regular (87 octane) price for premium. Premium at $3.69/gal. I love Costco!

Sam Posey, who was a surprise guest at the Fall Foliage Run will receive the Spirit of Competition Award from the Simeone Foundation.

So now that our Fall Foliage Run is a thing of the past it is time to start thinking about c2c5 which as usual will probably be held the second weekend in June.

New thread and details will follow. Once things become official be sure to commit early. DSX has informed us that we will have to set the limit to 500 cars this year.
