X5 Larger Visor and Tips for Road Abuse?

Guys,

Have an X5 and would like to know if anyone has any recomondations for a larger (longer vertically) and one that may offer an "extender" for when you move it to the side to block the sun on the driver's side?

Also, I've seen some hood shields that protect the hood/grill area from debri/road rash, but is anyone here using one and can someone offer your experience/tips for keeping the hood from getting nicked up, partially when driving the freeway?

I'm gonna get the car treated, so this should help, but rocks and sand are still concerns on the front of the vehicle for me.

Thanks in advance.

There are plenty of aftermarket things, for example "Visormates" which are very inexpensive horizontal "extenders"... There are also vertical extenders like the "Sun Zapper" models, just do a Google or Amazon search for "visor extenders". I personally don't use any of them so I can't comment on quality of any of those.

Wait, "treated"?!?!?

Are you going to fall for one of the new paint sealant/protectant/nano scams????

Only thing that will for is a FILM, which is not a treatment

Just get a clear bra if you're worried about paint chips, I had the front end, A pillars, side skirts, fender flares, door edges and behind the door handles done before I drove it off the lot. You'll have less if you don't have ZMP, less painted parts.

Off topic, I know (sorry OP) but since we're talking road hazard protection, does anyone know of similar protections for the windshield? I seem to be a rock magnate and am almost guaranteed a rock chip on any trip involving driving on the highway for more than a couple of hours!!!

Best defense is back off from the car or truck in front of you.

Rock chips usually / normally happen because you are following too close. But there are exceptions..

You guys may not approve, but for last minute prep I recently drove 400 miles with painters tape on my front end of my X5.. it was ugly but it did the job
