M seats dismantle

Has anyone dismantled the seat cushions/back on the Z4M seats.
Looking to swap seat cushions from a power seat to a manual seat.

...or
How easy is it to swap the mechanicals/drives etc.

I had to replace (well didn't have to, but they were bugging the hell out of me ) my seatbacks, as the velour material was rubbed off down to the plactic, in a few sections, by the previous owner. The edge of the leather has a plastic tab sewn to it. This tab runs around the edge of the leather on the entire back section. There is a channel all around the edge of the seatback that this tab "tucks" into. I basically used a flathead screwdriver and a putty knife to put my leather back on after I put the new seatbacks in place. Takes a few hours to do correctly. You need to line it up correctly to start, and be patient with the process. I was able to do it by unbolting the reclining section and turning it slightly in the car, but I wasn't replacing the cushions underneath either. Good luck!

John
ps: In re-reading your post, not sure if you are replacing the entire bottom and back seat sections "intact", to a "power" frame. If so, disregard my long winded explanation on replacing the seatback. I initially thought you were replacing the cushions under the leather, as some do in order to add the heated function, for example.

It can be done relatively easily with the seats out of the car. I contemplated doing the same when I converted my car to power seats.

The back is dead simple with the two screws locking the seatback onto the vertical pins. The manual and power bases attach to the seat base the same way - someone posted a guide on how to detach/attach them, don't recall if it was this forum or not. A search should dig it up.
