E70 X5 Spare Tire
Hello to all forum members. I am new to this site so please forgive me if this has already been posted.
Has anyone built their own spare tire package for their E70? What size rims and tires were you able to fit in the rear compartment (under the trunk floor space)? I do not want to buy the ugly steel rimmed space saver spare that BMW sells. Also, what kind/brand of jack did you purchase? Thanks

On my M5, I carry a single full side tire/wheel in the trunk along with a E39 jack. But there is no space for even a space saver in that car. Actually, having a spare wheel that matches my E70 would be an OK idea, just in case. I usually retain one old tire with the best tread when I get new tires- having a wheel 'in stock' back at the house might be a good idea. (So you can take off the space saver and give tirerack a few days to ship the replacemnet.) I'd still keep the space saver in the trunk. Again, consider you may never even LOOK at it for years on end! ![]() A

Yeap, I would also advise you to just stick with stock spare - unless you're planning to drive several days on spare (which is not a good idea) the "ugly" stock one is perfectly fine. There's no shame in letting others know that you had an accidental tire puncture. It's not like you accidentally wet your pants or anything like this

Get a space saver from your local BMW/Euro auto wrecking yard, along with the jack etc. Probably only pay about one third of what the dealer would want. Sadly there will be lots of that kind of stuff around now with all the flooded high end iron left in Sandy's wake.

Hi
We do have the OEM Spare in stock but yes, the price is pretty up there unfortunately, BMW does charge us a lot for the components The OEM spare will fit in the compartment (no 3rd row seat). Other wider non OEM ones will probably not fit in the compartment Anyway, if interested, do check out http://www.bimmerzone.com/BMW_Perfor...T-E70-KIT.html Like I mentioned, we do have a few left in stock, no need to wait for the BMW backorder. Thanks Quote:
