Z4 Winter Storage - Insurance
Some of this may be common knowledge, but I just learned something that I thought I'd pass on. When storing the Z for the Winter, I suspend the liability/collision portion of my insurance and keep the comprehensive active. My ins agent told me that by increasing the deductible to the highest allowable amount, that further reduces the premium for the period of storage. The risk is that if anything happens while in storage (somehow it gets scratched etc) then you're stuck paying the higher deductible...or waiting for Spring to report it.
Might not be for everyone, but at least it's another option to save a few bucks.

HOw does this work in states with required liability insurance? In MD< if you drop liability, they come after you for the plates.

If you really want to save on insurance, investigate a policy with Hagerty. The will insure newer sports and specialty cars with an agreed upon value for much less than conventional carriers. I have full coverage with extended liability limits ($500,000) for $285 per year with a guaranteed value of $15000 (03 Z4 3.0). They only require that you have another car less than 5 years old for "everyday" use.
