Mein Auto: '10 335d and '11 X5d
adding Nav to an x5d without it

I know it may not make sense given the availablity of portable GPS; however, I hate clutter in my cars (OCD on that) so I am wondering if its possible, what the costs might be, and if its ever been done before.

Car is 2012 CPO x5d w/ Premium package, Sport, Cold weather,

Thanks in advance for the help...

I think it's in the region of 3 - 5k. Not cheap.

If you do a search you will find some have done it with details. As the previous poster said. It isn't cheap and not sure if it is worth dumping that much money into it.

Not cheap. Budget 3kk - 4k with parts and coding. The guys who know how to code this do it for a living. Check http://www.bimmer-tech.net and http://www.bimmerretrofit.com
You will need FSC codes to activate features, or a canbus filter to fool the system.

Totally not worth it - you can integrate all the wiring for portable GPS in a non-visible way and get a compact mount for such system (from ProClip) for much less $$$ than it will cost you to get new iDrive with BMW's own ****ty (bad coverage, map updates come out only once a year and are very expensive) navigation

I have to agree. In fact you can have a custom audio shop setup a high end portable GPS to look as if it's supposed to be there (no wires, clean lines, etc). It would cost infinitely less to go that route and you might even end up with more navigation functionality in the end.

^^ In the end, there will always be a second LCD...so not sure how you get around that.

I am not aware of anyone integrating into the existing LCD, nor have I seen any replacements of the facotry LCD wiht an aftermarket nav screen.
