This sounds insensitive but...pics?
In all seriousness, sorry for your loss. I hope the car was the extent of your losses during the storm. |

To all my fellow BMW owners in NY Listen up. I am currently having an issue with a tristate bmw dealer that damaged my vehical. They are denying it and this may be a court issue. The damaged occurred fallowing the car being towed for a flat tire. They are calling me tomorrow to see what to do about this and it will be tomorrow when I revile the name of the dealership. They are awair of the power of this forum so i am waiting a day to see what they do before i post the dealership. Its sucks when you spend a lot of money on a car only to have a dealership damage it and try to hide it. shame on them. will keep you informed.

I have spent the week deployed to help A LOT OF PEOPLE !This message is to give a heads up to how dishonest a dealer can be. I have never had any issues with a BMW dealer ship until now. If I had known that i couldhave been towed the car to the dealer were i purchased it i would have.(Bloomfield BMW NJ spectacular) For the Tri state guys I am saying be careful this place truly did the wrong thing. The damage to a new 2012 bmw 535xi m sport at 77,000 dollars for a stupid tire that was covered under the purchased warranty is unbelievable. Believe me , 3 BMW,s later and I still love BMW's and my car. Its the unbelievable balls someone would have to say Sorry cant help you good luck.

My GF bought a 2008 528xi in September of this year, and she lives in a high rise right across the street from Coney Island and the NY Aquarium. She paid $25K cash and only opted to get liability coverage. I begged her back then to spend the extra $75/month for comprehensive that Geico quoted her. Not because I ever predicted a superstorm, but because I'd hate for her to be in an accident that totals the vehicle. She refused.
In the days leading up to Sandy, given the increasingly dire forecasts for the NYC shorelines, I advised her strongly to take the car further into Brooklyn and find a parking garage. Thank God she did. The night before the storm, she put the car in a garage about 2 miles away, but only found first level spots. I looked up the elevation and found it to be about 50 feet above sea level (vs her parking lot which is 15 feet). On the night of the storm, she and many residents opted to not follow the mandatory evacuation orders (few had anywhere they could really go). The water level was about 10-15 feet up the building. The entire parking lot adjacent her building was flooded. Cars were floating all over the place, on top of each other, mailboxes, sidewalks, etc. The lobby of her building was completely submerged. The next day, the waters had receded and that entire area of Brooklyn (Coney Island, Brighton Beach) was like a war zone. Cars were randomly placed in the middle of streets. MTA buses were strewn about. No power, no traffic lights. She was convinced her car, on the first level of a parking garage 2 miles away was a goner. I wasn't so sure she was wrong. She went the next day and found it to be unscathed. She knows many people in her complex who refused to believe the storm would flood their parking lot, despite it being only 10 feet above sea level and forecast surges of 10-15 feet. They all lost their cars, and many had no comprehensive insurance. Her parking lot had a lot of very nice, new(er) cars from the likes of BMW (I saw a gorgeous X6 that was a total loss), Mercedes, Lexus, Porsche, etc. She still refuses to pay more for comprehensive coverage..... Sorry to hear about the OP's loss
- but in the end it is just a car - cars can be replaced lives cannot.
