E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135. |

128i first service
Call me dumb, but I'm at about 10k and expected my car to have told me to obtain service. I can't figure out how this is supposed to work. Should I have been prompted to get service yet? And, how obvious will it be when the car talks to me?

Please read your Service/Warranty manual as it explains "Condition Based Service". Basically, oil change mileage is initially set at around 15,000 and can vary up or down according to how the car is driven. Also, see "Service Requirements" in your owner's manual to learn how to read the miles remaining to, or date of, each upcoming service on your iDrive or OBC. Tom |

Tom is right about low mileage oil changes. You have to know that they come at 1 year. I'm not sure about the mileage limit but I drive my bimmer about 7k miles a year and I get them.

Considering buying a used 128, any advice? I had a 99 540 but gas was killing me in commute. Thanks to this forum it was easy to work on the 540. Are the 128 easy to work on?
