Not sure what's the point... You're basically using iDrive as a display for controlling your phone... which you can do by simply using your phone's own display
Only good is if you want to inconvenience yourself with downloading illegal copies of the movies and putting them on your smartphone for watching them on iDrive's larger screen

Hm, the more I think about it, the more I like, considering I plug my android phone almost every time I drive X5. Currently it's limited just to streaming radio, but with such interface you open door to better - at least from "up to date" perspective - navi, as well as other goodies currently on your phone. Not sure how well the iDrive screen matches the phone screen resolution. And again, $900...
