Will Style 87 Rims fit any x5?
I am picking up a "new to me" 06 x5 3.0 in the morning. And I have access to these 20" style 87 rims. But just by looking I cant picture squeezing 20 inch rims under those wells and not having rubbing issues. I didnt know if maybe the V8 models sat higher off the ground and could accomodate this 20 inch wheel, but the v6 could not.
Can anyone shed some light? Thanks in advance. |

All X5's have the same grounding. you won't have any issues if you put original x5 rims. So you will be perfect putting them on. BTW i have 06 4.8is And Also looking or style 87 rims for myslef. how much you getting those for?

I wouldn't guess wheels fitment by looking at them. If they have correct specs, they WILL fit. 20" on the E53 is not squeezing at all.
YES, style87 wheels fit your 06 E53.

Perhaps we should clarify one point...and say all e53 X5 wheels fit all e53 X5s. The e70 X5 wheels have the same issue that the e39 5 series wheels have...and that is a slightly larger 74.1mm wheel hub versus the 72.56mm wheel hub of its BMW model stablemates of the same model nomenclature.
An e53 X5 owner would have issues mounting e70 wheels (of any size) onto their vehicles due to this larger wheel hub size...hub centric rings would be required to mount e70 wheels onto an e53. One could also just use one of the online part databases, as well...to see which X5 wheels are available for their vehicle. For instance, if one went to www.realoem.com and entered the last 7 digits of their VIN...then went to the WHEEL diagrams...you'd see that the Style 87 wheels are listed in the part nbr index BELOW the diagram...which means they will work for your X5.

Thanks for posting this pic of your X5. Looks like its Sterling Gray...and the Style 87 (5 spoke) or Style 168 (7 spoke) is what I've been considering as spring/summer/fall wheels for the sterling gray X5 I just picked up this past Thursday. Your pic gives me inspiration
I like both wheels mentioned previously...but I may be leaning more towards the style 87 due to the ease of cleaning 5 spokes of the style 87 wheel. The more spokes the wheel has...the more tedious the cleaning of each spoke...and at this stage in my life..."ease" is a very important factor. I just ordered a set of 4 Michelin Lattitude X-Ice xi2 dedicated winter tires which will be mounted to the 18" style 153 wheels that came on her...so I won't have to make the final decision until closer to spring...but the style 87 so far have the slight edge. ![]()

If they're standard pads it won't take long before you know.
