I replaced mine (2007 550) with the same form factor (Duralast Platinum Part H8-AGM) but didnt keep power to the car when swapping...I have had zero issues for 6 months now.
I will be taking this to an Indy for a spark plug change and will ask if they can reprogram or if it is needed.

[potentially stupid] question:
What amp hour rating is the H8-AGM battery?? Sorry, maybe I missed too many days of my one and only electrical engineering course, I'm going to order one shortly and my car is still using the old white battery, so I need to switch everything over to AGM and the correct AH rating. |

Change from regular white battery went smoothly, did not keep power on, only clock has reset (date was intact). Coded with NCSExpert and Tool32 as per DIY posted on the net. Changed A/H to 90ah_agm since this was the closest available I am aware of. So far so good. Is there IBS reset function for 08' 550i? I don't see it in INPA..
Or it's not applicable for my car? |

On INPA opening screen, pick E60, click on Engine, double click MS 45.0 For M54, hit F5 (Status), then F5 IBS-Powermanagement, then F5 Batterietausch registrieren

As I said my car is 550i, it's N62 engine, so my DME is ME9, there is no IBS access in INPA as far as I can see...

Trying to figure out what to do and would appreciate some advice. I hav an '04 E60 and barely drive the car because I had to travel a lot for work. Didn't start the car for weeks at a time and about a month ago the car just completely died. This is the 2nd time I'm going in to get the battery replaced at the stealership and they blame it on me not starting the car for extended periods of time, etc.
Do you recommend that I take it in to the dealer (given that its completely dead) or go through an indy? The car has less than 30K miles on it and I'm planning to use it for another year and then possibly trade it in. For those folks who swapped the battery themselves or had an indy do it, any issues or should I bite the bullet and just have the dealer take care of it? |

Get yourself one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender...battery+tender It might take a couple of days to fully charge your battery. Even if you do need another new battery, you need to hook it up to a battery tender regularly, depending on how much or how little you run your car. Buying a new battery is discussed on this forum constantly. A little searching is required. I bought an AGM battery from a dealer and registered and coded it myself.

Battery tender will def help.
There's a junction box under the hood for the positive cable that you can use if you don't want to deal with pulling the trunk apart to hook it up |
