LED's in my grill won't go off

I just bought a few LED strips to hide in my grill.
I have all the wiring set (or thought so) but no matter what fuse I hook it up to, they won't go off with the rest of the lights (or anything for that matter)

Do I need to get a relay or switch? Or what would be the easiest way to sync them with my headlights?

Do you have the light switch turned all the way to the left so that you never have to manually turn them on? If you do, try turning the lights off and see if that works.

i always have it on automatic but just to see, i did try it on the other three settings

You're saying that an aftermarket lighting part is malfunctioning? I find this rather difficult to believe.

Exactly. You want some lame LED lights, go get an Audi...

why would you light up your grill....thats like getting a nose ring ....bad move undo the whole project

I haven't done any electrical work yet on my BMW but will speak from years of experience with various other vehicles.

What you need is to first find a wire or connector that is switched coincident with the headlights; i.e. it's on when the headlights are on, off when the headlights are off. Best to get a wiring diagram of your car and look on the diagram in the vicinty of the headlights.

Once you've identified a switched source, you can tap into that to trigger a relay which powers the LEDs. Actual power could be tapped from the fuse block or battery connection (and fused!) and run to the relay.

That spinning wheel video makes me very angry for several reason:

1. They're spinning wheels.
2. They're $ spinning wheels.
3. The car is dirty.
4. Obviously shot in the projects.

LOL! I might actually be tempted to do that to the E93 for Christmas Season except for:

1) I think the lights might get tangled up in the retractable top mechanism
2) I don't want to burn my paint/clearcoat/wax job
3) I already have enough problems with excessive battery draw, the last thing I need is Christmas lights draining the new battery. - Oh yeah, I just bought a battery tender - never mind.

Not sure how they accomplished this, but it brings back dim memories of me helping my friend decorate his yacht for the annual Newport Beach, CA "Parade of Lights" for Christmas. We spent three days decorating the boat. We entered the parade with lights glowing...a sure "winner," but the generator was soon overwhelmed. Fortunately there was a harbor-side "Hooters" restaurant nearby...we pulled in to their slip, all "darkened." That was my last memory of the evening.

Lessons to be learned for the requirement of amps, wattage of Christmas lights vs. the output of your yacht's generator...not to mention over-infatuation with the Hooter's girls (it wasn't me...it was the skipper).

Well, what about....suppose you just decorated the grills w/LED's?
