Does your 535 xi not have a spare? In the US the come standard with a spare. I say dump the run flat tires - my car has never had them and I would not have it any other way. I don't like the ride with run flat tires.

2008 may have been the last year that the 5 Series came with both Run Flats and a spare. When the RFT's on my wife's car are gone, they will be replaced with non-RFT's. I have a Z4 that came with RFT's and when I switched to non-RFT's the improvement in the ride and handling was amazing.

The noise you referring to is, from the hard run flat rubber, not any belt of anything else. |

On my daughters 08 328i I changed to regular tires and bought the Continental electric tire pump with tire sealant. Tire Rack sells it. Same setup my E60 came with.

Changing my 124's with run flats for lighter wheels with non-rft has dramatically improved ride quality, less road noise and the car's handling characteristics have improved. If you got a jack and a spare or have AAA, then ditch the RFT's, IMO.

Thanks for the input, sounds liek the run flats are no more for me!! (good, they are REALLY expensive!)
I like having a spare, we travel to the cottage, and if I trash a tire, I'm stuck (I once ran over a piece of metal, and cut about a 2-3" slice out of the side, so the can spray would not work with that) Where can you buy a spare and jack that will fit in the space?? (beside BMW, I don't feel like spending some crazy amount like $500 for a spare) What about size? I run full winter tires and rims, so I can go as wide as possible on the stock 18" sport rims. They are 275/35 18 |

Most E60 comes with a spare, i had one in my 07 550i
but perhaps they got rid of it later in the LCI times anyway, if you are interested in a spare we do have it http://www.bimmerzone.com/BMW_Perfor...T-E60-KIT.html Hope this helps. Quote:
