BMW on demand/Hotel idea

I set up an M-3 for an 8 hour rental last month at the Welt. I reserved a black one with beige interior with the SMG gearbox. The cost was 120 Euro. It was a little disconcerting signing my life away before the pick up. Basically you are saying you will behave yourself. No track racing or off road stuff and no turning off the computer. They even measured the tread depth on the back wheels. Also, if you are thinking about doing this, do it before October 1st. The German law gets the snow tires mounted around the first of October and the Michelin snow tires on the car I rented were speed limited to about 150 mph.

At the end of the rental they did a very meticulous inspection for wheel damage. Everything was fine.

Loved every second of the M-3. I really fell completely in love with the engine and the exhaust sound. It was a lot of fun and worth every penny. Plus, I don't have to waste any time thinking about what my next ED car will be.

Hotel idea. My wife set up the hotels for this trip and in Munich we stayed at the Four Points Sheraton. It was right across the street from the factory and only a 3-4 min. walk to the Welt. I could look out my hotel window and watch railroad cars loaded with new BMWs pulling out.

Did you rent it 8 hours from 9am to 5pm? How far ahead did you book?

Yes, I rented it from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

I think it was about two weeks in advance. I reserved a car with the SMG so I could give it a close look. The car was exactly what I reserved.

I am planning to reserve M5 / M6 for a couple of days, but you can only do it 30 days in advance.

I plan to drive the M135i that will never be here in US...also for 90 Euro for 8 hours...why not? Do they have any mileage limitation?

resurface this old post, anyone know if I am the one book a vehicle from BMW on demand, can my friend also drive that vehicle? Will the insurance cover his? If not, is there an extra cost that allows him/her to drive?

Yes your friend can drive the car, just needs to have valid driver license

BMW on Demand also email me with the answer that as long as my friend (or friends) are older then 25 years old (or 21 years old for non M models rental), they can drive as well.

Anyone have experience with a week to 10 days rental for about 1200 miles/2000Km?
By the hour is understandably pretty steep & cost-prohibitive
