New speakers w/stock head unit and no amp
I just got myself a used 07 335i sedan and it did not come with the factory amp. The best price I got on the factory amp was $250. I figured I might as well get a new speaker system for around 300 but I do not plan on changing the stock head unit. Will I be able to use the new speakers and stock head unit without the stock amp?

Can't see how you didn't get an amp
All US 07's came with either the Hi Fi system or the L7 system both of which have amps.
I believe the 07 335 still came with the L7 system standard. If the amp is bad an its L7 you would be better of replacing it as its a pretty good system. And if its the L7 system you couldn't use it without and amp anyway as the output of the L7 head unit is fiber opticaly linked to the amp. Also this means the BMW L7 amp is the only one that works with the OEM head unit. No analog outputs without reprogramming. Either amp is located under the Trunk floor on the drivers side rear corner. What happened to the stock amp? why was it taken out?

I bought the car from a private seller, not a dealer. it runs great and everything is working great but he said when he bought it it didnt come with the amp and he never got to getting another one. does anyone know where I can buy an amp for the top-HiFisystem?
