2010 X3 Rear Brake line wear

During normal maintenance I was told by service that both rear brake lines have been worn by rubbing on the axle. New parts have been ordered and the tech has bent the brackets to prevent further wear. To me this sounds astonishing since it appears to be a safety issue which could be due to some design flaw unless it's somehow unique just to my vehicle.
Anyone have advice? I am nervous that the same problem could reoccur and result in a fire or rupture.
