Some rust on camshafts
So im rebuilding the engine on a junked bmw from my landlord, and upon inspecting the camshafts that i removed today, i saw theres a bit of rust here and there. Wondering what the best way to clean it off is. So far the best way ive read about is a soft rag and alot of wd40. Any input on this?

How about a brass wire brush and 3-in-1 oil? Brush axially, not across the lobe face.

I was just reading through and saw that peanut butter is a good preventative for rust while in storage......how does someone come across that thought process? Haha. And i think ill use a light oil and bushpad thing. Seems the safest idea

I used 2000 grit sand paper and WD-40 for the same problem. With some patience and elbow grease it will turn out like new.

Thanks for the input. Those green pads and wd40 works perfect. Decided id scrub the entire shaft down and it looks remarkable. Still got a bit to do, but but definitely worth it.
