Need advice on Transfer Case leak issue
I own a 328xi and recently have been told by the dealership that my car has a leak in transfer case. The dealership has fixed the problem.
Is this going to be a problem area in the long run? What should be my next step? 1. Keep the car 2. Sell the car immediately 3. Wait and watch Any advice will be really appreciated. |

First time I've heard of a leaking transfer case, but anything with a seal can have a leak problem. Were it mine, I'd go for (1) with a side of (3).
And I'd still change the transfer case and front / rear differential fluids every 30,000 as has been the case on mine since it was new. FWIW and YMMV, George

Could you give us a few more details?
1. What was leaking on the transfer case? 2. What year model and how many miles on your car? 3. Automatic or manual transmission?

Got some more info
It is actually the front differential leaking.
The dealership fixed it with new parts. It is a 2007 328xi with streptonic transmission. I have 105K on the car Last edited by indy_b; 11-14-2012 at 08:22 PM. |
