2007 550i CDC Prewire

Hi guys, I am trying to install an used Denison GW500 unit I bought from a member here. He had it installed in a BMW with the CDC and mine is only pre wired. I can't find the fibre optic wires behind the glove box. I did find a set of fibre optic wires behind a small panel in the glove box next to the flash light mount. Is this the correct set? My searching for info has led me to believe this may be a diagnostic port of some kind.

The small plug where the CDC would be mounted only has a pair of wires going into it, I assume +/-.

Hopefully I can figure this out or else I only have an expensive paperweight!

the last 4 digits of my VIN are CP03514 am I misreading the CDC prep part?

I had same car

Ii has been awhile now, but I remember popping out a flat plate at back of the glovebox area. I found a wrapped fiberoptic cable bound by yellow tape...? Unwrapping allowed me to connect my BMW iPod adapter kit (used a plastic zip strap to hold it up in the cavity where CDC would have been secured) where the stock CDC would have gone. My car did not come with the CDC - just the Prep - so I ended up taking it to dealer to have it coded, worked great! Somewhere (do a search) on the forum is a DIY with photos that shows you what to do to connect the CDC. You can go from that to hook up your Dennison instead, I'll bet... Good luck!

Thanks for reply. There is one loop of some sort that is wrapped in black fabric. It appears to be affixed behind the fuse box.
I can't tell it's normal wires or fiber yet. I may have to cut the braid open to see what's inside.

There is a small cover in the glove box next to the flash light with a pair of fiber cables plug into what looks like a loops
Do you know what that is for or maybe it's what I should be using?

I searched and have found a lot of info but I can't find step one which is locating that fiber pair...

I think you have it. I do remember carefully cutting braid also. That is likely your power plug. The fiber loop you mention, probably a rectangular plastic coupler that aligns two separate cables so the light circuit is completed. You would unclip both cables and insert into the CDC. You will see more of these in trunk under driver side hinge for the factory in adding sat radio and HD tuners...
