2006 e46 convertable - headlight wiring replacement

I was told by my mechanic that I need a new headlight assembly for my 2006 325ci convertible. The car has the xenon adaptive headlights. Ignitor, bulb and ballast have been check and are okay. My guess is the wiring on the inside needs to be replaced. Does anyone know if this is possible and how to go about doing it?

What problems are you experiencing, and what specific diagnosis did your mechanic give as justification for wanting to replace the entire assembly?

Driver's side headlight wouldn't turn on....mechanic replaced the ignitor and bulb and shrink wrapped all the wires. Still wouldn't turn on. Today when I got it back I, being a curious type looked at the headlights. I was surprised to find that the passenger side light (which was fixed early last week) wasn't fully bolted down and there were a couple of connections that weren't connected. So I plugged them in. I also noticed when I was looking at what they did on the driver's side that the brown (ground?) wire had become disconnected. I, with much bother, reconnected it. But still no light. After some searching on the web I decided to disconnect the ground from the battery in an effort to 'reset' the system. When I tried the lights again, both came on, leveled themselves and seem to be working as before. A happy ending to a potentially expensive fix.

You need a new mechanic. The light control module had a code that was reset by disconnecting the battery. I just had it happen to me a week ago.

Now the adaptive headlights are tracking opposite of the steering....I turn right, they go left. Any ideas?
