error message pic--what's wrong?

My orange blinker is fine.....I think its my Angel eyes..

Did you stand in front of the car and take a look?

Here are a couple of pics. One is the passenger side, the other is the drivers side--(where the error references)

The key in, ignition on, but engine not running, with the Parking lights ON only

The Drivers side looks like the ONE bulb for the Corona Rings went out and the car defaulted back to a High beam bulb (reduced intensity).
Never seen that before. You don't have Xenons so your inner lights are the DRL's., but since you have the switch in parking lamp mode DRL's are not active.
If not you would have Bi-Xenons on the outer bulbs.
Those inner lights serve as cornering lights only if you have xenons, and flash to pass if you don't. So, it looks to be the Driver side Corona Ring Bulb that's out.
Still confusing however. Need a tool to acces the LM and see whats really going on.

angel eye is out on driver side. may need to change bulb. not a hard fix for the basic DIY.

This is NOT an H8 bulb that I was told was the problem...!!

Looks like you have halogen lights and not bi-xenon so a h8 bulb will not work. If your car is a 09 it's probably under the BMW maintenance plan unless you have over 50k on the odometer. That would be covered under that plan.

What ****en pisses me off is that idiots told me to get an H8 bulb.

What???? The car does not default to the high beam if the AE goes out. If you look at the pics, the DRL's are on in both pics. It just more obvious in the pic with the AE that's out. The OP needs to replace that AE bulb which can only be purchased at the dealer.

OP, if your car had Xenons, then the AE would take the H8 bulb. This is always listed in the reference books at the auto stores. They fail to list the correct bulb for the Halogen headlights. Nobody sells that bulb besides the dealer so don't waste your time in looking.

I only said that because the OP stated the key in ignition not running and PARKING LIGHTS ON ONLY. Once you turn your parking lights on the DRL's go out and the Angel Eyes come on. DRL'S on the LCI five without Xenon are high beams with reduced intensity unless you use NCS or some other means of coding to do otherwise. Either way the conclusion is the angel eye (not DRL) bulb is out, and the OP understands that.

AFTER I understood what the heck to look for, and two hours of searching, I ordered 4 of the tiny Philips or Osram bulbs. I took the assembly apart and goggled the bulb's part number.

What pisses me off is how ****en difficult it was to figure it out.

BMW wants you to take the car to dealer to replace that bulb. Dealer can charge you $600 to replace that bulb and REGISTER [your name in to the suckers list] the bulb to the car's electronics. If you don't register, you will get all kinds of electrical problems.
