Air Flow Meter
Hello Peeps,
My car has been acting up lately with the ideling and mpg's going down I talked to a mechanic and he said it was most likely the air flow meter. He also has a BMW and put his air flow meter in my car and tested it and said that was the problem. The air flow meter OEM cost around $400 I went on craigslist and saw a guy parting out his BMW. I send him an email wanting to know if he had the airlflow meter and if it was good, he got back to me said it was good and wants $80 for it. I know buying used is a risk becuase it can not come out good but do you guys think I am on a lilttle budget.

Its not that much money for oem if you buy outside the dealer.
Oem is bosch. Try these three websites for way better prices Eactuning.com Pelicanparts.com Autohausaz.com If you dont know the part number look it up on realoem.com

Before going off and spending money on what might fix the problem--do a search here and check for vacuum leaks on your engine--99% of the time--that is what the problem is

+1 for autohaus, best darn price for a BOSCH MAF.
Secondly, what would be the proper kg/h readings for a good condition MAF when reading from a diagnostic tool?

I lucked out... I need to replace my MAF and I called the local dealer (isnt an actually official BMW only dealer they deal in Volvo and Porche too) which is locally, family run and they give me a discount when I purchase parts over the counter and do the work myself. He quoted me 262$ for genuine BMW MAF with a 1 year warranty. So its about $40 more than EAC, however I need the MAF before I can drive my car and the 20-40$ id spend on express shipping (I live in Canada) is better spent driving to the dealer and changing the part today so I can drive Ol' Bessy
 . Make sure you go in person to the dealer and ask them if they can offer you an over the counter discount on parts. you might get lucky !

Just so you know bosch is the oem supplier. If you buy bosch labele instead of bmw oem label it is the same identical part with a different box. Buying oem parts is a silly waste of money. Buying the oem brand part is not.

If you ever want to know who is the oes (original equipment supplier) to bmw, just search the part number on pelicanparts.com and they will offer several brands with the oes marked with a flag.

Amazon has Bosch MAF for a better price than the other parts specific companies.
