Idle control valve

I have removed icv from underneath manifold. without removing manifold. Can I get it back in without pulling manifold. I could not get to the last bolt to pull manifold without pulling alot of things I dont want to pull. advice please....

You should be able to get it off very simply. My 318ti only had 3 screws I had to take out

it's a little more burried than a 4 cyl, but if you got it out, then you should be able to squeze it back in. just becareful to not tear the rubber hoses.

some silicone spray would assist in getting the hoses back on. a little bit goes a long way.

what kind of bmw we are talking about. if there is a rubber rings around it, make sure to replace that, you can buy it from autozone or any other part store, just revers the removal prosses you will be allright

I have a 93 325is, and I was able to remove the ICV by removing the air box and assorted components. Rather than mess with removing the 2 hoses from the ICV itself, I just disconnected the long hose from the bottom of the accordion plenum going to the MASS sensor.
The other thicker (ridged) hose connects to a plastic fitting which goes into the inside area of the manifold. I pried this fitting off and presto, the whole icv came out, hoses and all.
UNFORTUNATELY, There is a clip at the bottom of thas plastic fitting that holds it onto the manifold... I broke that clip when pulling it off the manifold. Now I have to order a new part.

My car was pulling code 1222 - Lambda. Indicative of a vacuum leak. Sure enough, that long ICV hose was cracked wide open.

To the OP- if your car is a 325 6 cyl- just connect the hoses to the ICV first, put it into place and connect the hoses to the points I mentioned after it's all in place.

Wrong. I diagnosed and replaced the #4 coil pack and the car runs perfectly.

Haken is just trolling. Pay no attention to him.

Actually if you take the front seat out and cut a hole in the floor you can have the Flintstone's mod. Might be easier to drive WITHOUT an engine, at that point.
