Alternatives to UUC flywheel and clutch?
I think its about time for a clutch and while im at it i'd like to replace the flywheel with a light weight one. UUC is about a 1000 and ive found some other kits on ebay with a SACHS oe clutch for about half that. Just wondering if anyone has tried these or had any problems with them and if double the price is really worth it for the name? Thanks!

I have the UUC lightweight flywheel clutch combo, and it is definitely interesting. The clutch is more like an on/off switch than the stock setup, which is actually quite smooth. I can shift much faster and get full torque transfer faster, at the expensive of smooth transitions. Makes for a great fun ride, but a bit rough on new passengers.
If I focus and try very hard, I can keep it smooth, but what's the fun in that? If you want to turn your car into more of a racecar, including engine mods for increased power & torque, then I say go for it. Otherwise, stick with stock.

Hmm, what uuc clutch kit did you go with? How's the flywheel? Do you think it's worth the extra $$$ over the eBay one?

The PO installed it, so I'm not sure, but he said it's a stage 2 racing clutch. I can't compare with the F1 clutch kit on ebay, but I've heard good things about them. I'd pay close attention to how much torque an aftermarket clutch can hold onto as a first metric. UUC is a great brand, though expensive, so keep that in consideration, too. Other brands might not be...

I think I'll go with the f1 stage 1 clutch or Sachs oe, not sure which one yet, but I can't see spending twice the money if I don't need to.
