"Clunk" at start if engine

Hello guys I have a 2008 528i, and most of the time I start the engine I hear a "clunk" like something pops, anyone knows what that is or experiencing the same noise?

Could be the A/C compressor (or A/C clutch).

Does it make any difference if your A/C is on or off at startup?

I hear it also every now and then the first second the engine turns over. I hear the clunk and the car does a thump for a second. I never did investigate it.

it doesnt have to make sense with you, its ok

get the car's i-level updated at the dealer and see if it goes away.
