Nice! Yeah, it does look slow on camera, but I bet it sure felt a lot faster behind the wheel. Even though you were in the low 13s, you've got an easy 12-second car, which I consider to be quick for a street car.

F1 stage two, installed before I did any turbo stuff. IIRC correctly it's rated for 360 lbs of torque or so. I'm making plenty more than that at 20-22 psi.

One or the other lol.
I tried to slip the clutch and keep the turbo spooling off the line on my last run and that's when it really died. I did do 20 something runs and the car had ZERO issues other than the clutch. Motor and turbo kit will be removed soon and sold for new turbo parts. Sent from my ADR6400L using Bimmer App |

Help?
Ive been reading through all of this and I'm new to turbos. I still havent decided whether I want to turbo an M50 or an M20 engine. I like the M50's much better. I have a question about what i need to physically run the turbo system. I understand the hardware, but as far as tuning, can I get a chip to plug into the DME (OBD I) and then I'm set to go? I don't know how that controls spark advance/retard and fuel. Do I need to get a piggyback ECM or do I need a complete new ECM? Also, For a turbo controller, what does that even mean/ Ive tried doing research, and even on noob forums im a bit lost. Any good books to read on the topic? Im looking at one now called "Performance Fuel Injection Systems" by Matt Cramer/Jerry Hoffmann. Its mainly for V8 systems, and everything is specific to them.
Thanks in advance. SICK car man. Very well done. |

I don't know much about the M20s so I can't help you there.
Yes, if you are OBDI you just plop a chip in your factory computer. Easy as that. You'll want gauges to monitor things to make sure the tune is pretty close. As far as tuning you have many options. TRM Technica Technique tuning Miller Nick G Roadkill tuning Dunno about books, but I am looking to get into tuning sooner rather than later and I need to start reading up myself. Thanks! |

just make sure that the tuning books you are reading up on are in regarding engine management, not pianos...

Evo shifter, DSSR, and clutch are here.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You can see I have the updated flywheel with the machine work already done. Of course, it came with no instructions (the clutch) or torque measurements. |

105 ft/lbs on the flywheel and 25 on the PP.
Or so I've read! You should double check.

It's backwards. The shift lever should lean towards the pointed end of the shift arm.
