Need help with Steering Angle Sensor

I posted a question recently on two different threads on this forum about replacing my steering angle sensor. No one replied so here goes again.

I have the typical two lights on the dash that indicate my sensor is bad. I found out all cars made before mine in January 2007 had a recall and their sensor was replaced. Mine was not.

1. Has anyone replaced their own sensor? How hard was it? There's a bulletin that shows how to do this but the photos are a bit hard to decipher.

2. Has anyone replaced their sensor with a replacement kit? That kit is only about $20. If it works, that's what I would prefer to do.

3. I talked to my local dealer but they didn't seem to know a way to get this replaced under the recall since my car was not in the recall. Any suggestions there?

I am still hoping someone will comment on my steering angle sensor repair.

I have my steering wheel off and the cartridge out of column. But now nothing appears to have an angle sensor in it?

Anyone able to help?

Ok. Fixed mine today using this post from M5board.com:

W/o this post on the M5 board, I could not have done this. I still have my light on and will have to pay my local dealer $125 to turn off and calibrate.

If you have this issue, follow the M5 post. I took my car to the dealer and they couldn't get the light to go off.

I later got back into the sensor and cleaned off the plastic disc. That fixed my issue and no 2nd trip to the dealer was necessary.

Please somebody should tell me how to replace my steering angle sensor of bmw e60.
