A quick shout out to my new friend Greg Poland from Pacific BMW in Glendale, CA...greetings from Belgiium!
We live in Philadelphia, PA and we have had a superlative experience with Greg- much different from when we purchased our new E46 from a local dealer in 2000.
more pix and stories to follow when we return, but this f30 Msport is just a total gas to drive-I'm having a hard time staying within the 'break-in' recommendations . If it weren't for the HUD I'd be driving way faster than intended

I picked my new BMW on 10-10-12 and had a wonderful time touring Germany, France and Austria. Loved the Autobahn!!!.....would recomend this for all BMW buyers. It not only saves you some money, but allows you to see a part of the world that is beautiful.
And thanks to Beewang for the rental of the GPS, it saved my butt many times.....

I need to look into 2 year leases for next time so that I can do these more frequently.

A quick question here. I am doing a ED this May and plan to drop the car in France, but my CA told me I should expect up to a month's delay if I drop it outside Germany, which means, as long as 10 + 4 weeks to the west coast...

May I know after how long you finally got the car from the local dealer?

We dropped the car in Amsterdam on Thurs July 5th and picked it up at BMW Seattle on Sat August 25th, just about exactly 7 weeks. I don't remember all the specifics, but it took over 2 weeks for it to get on the ship headed for the US.

Good luck and have fun. It's an absolutely amazing experience taking delivery at the Welt and driving on the Autobahn.

Hello, I read some of your excellent trips. I thought of ED but I was told it was going to take 4 months total from ordering from the dealer to delivery to the dealer. How about your experience? How many months did you have to wait or how long was the process? I was told like this...

Order car from dealer - it will take two months to process then dealer will call me to pay then wait another one month to hear from BMW HQ then plan trip to drive car in Germany then another 4-6 weeks to deliver car to the US dealer.

Really depends on the order, but 4 months sounds like a reasonably padded expectation where you might get the car a little sooner, but probably not longer than 4 months for an east coast redelivery. Although if you're in NC you may also want to consider the PCD for your US delivery to round out the overall experience. Go VIP all the way!

I'm in the waiting period now after dropping of the car, but can say that ED is absolutely worth it for the experience.

Just ordered our X1 SUV two weeks ago so too late now for us to do ED but I will ask our dealer if they can have the car deliver to PCD...

No its not, I switched my E92 M3 order 3 weeks after setting up for local delivery (just call them and ask to switch to ED and they will give you a date)
