Xenon Light is out!
The driver's side xenon is out on my 2002 330 convertible.
I have spent the morning trying to get the round rear cover off the light so I can swap the bulb from driver to pass. side to diagnose whether this is a bulb issue or a ballast issue, but I can't seem to get the rear cover off. It hits the rounded part of the wheel well, and won't come off or lift up. Not sure if this is due to my ham hands or if the whole lighting housing needs to come out to switch the bulbs? Anybody replaced xenon bulbs on the E46 convertible? Is this a DIY job? Also, when I turn the headlight switch on, other warning lights pop up on the Instrument cluster. When the switch is off no warning lights are on. Is this normal? I started what I thought would be a project I could accomplish without heading to a dealer or shop. Now I am not so sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff |

I had a light go out, the ignitor was bad. I searched all the DIY's and became a xenon lighting expert. I bought a used part on Ebay and it's worked like a champ for about a year now.
You can do this at home. I used this DIY link for instructions. http://www.bigpatsfans.com/hl/headlight.htm The back cover was a PITA but keep at it. It does come off - it takes a little patience. |
