I recently had to replace a warn key and the only way I could find was to order a new key from the dealer. The dealer will need proper ID and proof of ownership and will order the key by the VIN of the car. The new key will come pre-cut with the correct cut for the ignition, doors and truck locks and pre-programmed to match the code of the anti-theft chip. The reason your car will not run is because of the anti-theft and has nothing to do with the battery within the key. If your key has a built in light, the battery only operates the light.

The chip keys need to be programmed either at the car or using a special machine hooked up to a computer with the software or a combination of both... Check with a locksmith or possibly a local hardware store and they should be able to program it. I work at Ace Hardware part-time and we can sometimes program the key, just depends on the car. I hope this helps.

You have to order new key from dealer or authorized repair shop.
