Fuel gauge misreading
Fuel tank is empty but the fuel gauge moves randomly. i changed (R and L) fuel level sensor but have the same problem. Trying to figure out why my x5 keeps doing this.
Let me know if somebody now's what is the problem! Thanks |

The fuel level senders read high resistance at Empty (980 ohms) and low resistance at Full (56 ohms). If the senders go open circuit or if one reads very different than the other when the tank is over half, the computer will drive the gage to read Empty. Measure the resistance of each sender with an ohmmeter and see if the readings are stable. If so, then it is a dash or computer problem.
