Secondary Air System. Vacuum hose diameter
Hi all,
On my 1998 328i I am going to replace the check valve and hoses. For the vacuum hose, which is about 8inches long from the check valve to the metal hose, it measures about 6.3mm on the outer diameter. The metal hose it goes to from the check valve, measures 6mm, which this hose needs to fit over. Can someone tell me when I'm shopping, do I buy 5mm line or I need to look for 6mm spec line? Thanks. I had to replace mine over the summer. I just went to a hardware store, removed the crumbling old hose and used it to compare with what the store had on offer. Found the correct outside and inside diameter, cut the correct length, and was done. Probably cost me less than a dollar. I don't remember what the exact specs are on that hose, but you don't really need them. Just use the old hose to find the correct diameter replacement.

I see. Ok if it is that easy to pick up at a local HW store, then I'll just order the check valve online then and not worry about ordering the hose/line at the same time.

Yep, if you're talking about the small length of vacuum hose indicated in the photo below, you can get that from any hardware store.
