Factory Alarm

What has to be done for the factory alarm to get working again in a 2000 BMW 328i?

95% of E46s never had an alarm....it was a dealer-only option, and the very effective standard anti-theft features made a "noisemaker" alarm superflous, nobody pays attention to them anyway. You can have the clown nose programmed to blink, and the parking lights "signal" the activation, giving the appearance of having an alarm, which is all you really need.

Do you know whether you have the aftermarket factory alarm installed?
If so, why is it not working. No one would have deprogrammed it.

Did you read this thread ? Have you determined whether you actually *have* an alarm ?

How to Tell If You Actually Have an OEM BMW Alarm
A helpful guide by SPDSKTR.

1) Sit in your car.
2) With the key in your hand, not in the ignition, press the lock button ONCE.
3) Sit in your car for about 30 seconds.
4) Move.

If your car starts going, "REEREEREEREEREER!" then congratulations! You have an alarm! If it doesn't start making godawful noises that make you want to strangle the nearest infant, then you don't have an alarm.

BMW sells an installation kit. Your car is pre-wired for an alarm, but the alarm itself must be installed. If your car fails the alarm test outlined by SPDSKTR above, here is a link:
