Style 299 wheels on e53?
Hello All,
I am new to the board. Have a quick question. Will the offset and tire size work on e53s? I realize I will need hubcentric rings. These are standard x5M rims with factory tire sizes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In fact if anyone is running this setup on their e53 please share photos! Thank you so much! (question: are you sure you typed the correct rear tire size? perhaps its just a typo and should be 315/35/20)
The offsets are the same as the e53 (just look at any of the specs of the e53 wheels and you'll see that the offsets and wheel widths are almost identical). The tire sizes are the same as the e53 tire sizes for 20" wheels...so I'm not sure why you question if they'll fit. Make sure the rears are 315/35/20 instead of 315/25/20. As you stated...the biggest issue is the 74.1mm hub size versus the 72.56mm e53 hub size...which the hub centric rings will take care of.

I didn't realize the E53 was a smaller hub size. I guess I'll need hub centric rings as well for my set up.

Yeah...every few generations BMW engineers play a cruel joke and will create an odd ball wheel hub size. Most BMW models from the early 70s-up have had 72.56mm wheel hubs...but some of the past & present oddities were/are:
And there has always been a difference in wheel offset range as well. The BMW 1/3/X3/X5/X6/Z3/Z4 models have a HIGH wheel offset range (approx 30mm-51+mm offset range)...and the 5/6/7/8/Z8 models have had a medium offset range (approx 10mm-30mm). But now that the 5/6/7 series have AWD models...those with x-Drive also use wheels with a HIGH wheel offset range.

Thanks for the excellent information!
Hello All,
Thanks for the information especially qsilver7! With the exception of the hubcentric rings, this is a direct fit tires included. Now I need to figure out the logistics of getting the wheels from out of state! |
