This will be my first BMW but have done plenty of V-8s just having hard time finding parts! Ik it will be pricey bit I'm okay with that

Id rather spend the money and build a fresh motor than spend 800 to 1500 on a used motor and not know what may or may not be wrong with it u know my original idea was turbo or supercharged!

Very cool, if you do end up taking on the job, you should document it on the forums for everyone to enjoy

I have a good upper but need block pistons crank mainly lower end! I don't want a swap cause like i said never done a BMW before. If all wiring would connect id just put a 6 cld in it

I just finished rebuilding an m42, they're fun to work on. However, if I were to do it again I would've bought a straight 6, ignored how difficult the job would be, and swapped. Just not enough power in those 4's for my liking, but I sure liked the mileage

Swapping in an M52 is considerably easier than performing a nuts & bolts engine rebuild on an M44. Really isn't that hard. Leave the 4-cylinder in the past and move into something more fun. It isn't that expensive if you're doing the work yourself.

Ok now with the m52 how much of the wiring converts no problem and what about my stock five speed? Will that bolt up? I like the idea of more power for less money butttt what all will convert over before it starts becoming more work that thought?
