Replacment for the Chrome/Titanium "insert" on old-style shift knob?
I have an '05 645Ci, and like many the fake metal insert on the shifter has flaked and looks terrible. The rest of the shifter looks good, so I was wondering if there is a replacement for the insert (or if anyone has one lying-around in good shape). I saw in another thread it does come off, but I'm fairly certain there is no part number for just the insert. Any ideas?
On a related not the brushed titanium trim on the shifter surround has "rubbed-off" in spots and exposed the bright chrome underneath. I don't suppose there is anything that can be done with that other than stripping and repainting or replacement? Thanks, Greg
