Then now, BMW should read this thread and bring BMW to F1. I watched qualify today in the morning and so so sad no BMW.

Last night (before I read this thread) I was thinking about how obsessed I am with my latest BMW (535I) ... washing it, waxing it, cleaning it (all myself), updating the DRL's, etc, etc.
It's interesting because I have had 39 cars in my life ... the first being a 1935 Plymouth (built the year was born). I have had 3 BMW's, but this one has really grabbed me.

+1! I still get the chills when I jump in the car every morning, wiping it down with detailing spray every morning while warming it up. My neighbor across the street told my wife " I think your husband is cheating. He's found a true love"! Year & a half later, and the love is still strong!

OK, it has been exactly 2 years since I started this thread and I am perplexed, I continue with all the same symptoms. How can this be?

Wow. I just read this entire thread and I'm guilty too. Really funny stuff and I'm really glad its not just me. I can't imagine how a friend of mine is doing since he just got a new M3. I finally have room in my garage for a car after living in my house for almost 6 years. I just got my 530 in March and since, I've purchased A LOT of Griots Garage car care stuff, only used Chevron 93, had TWO hit and runs on my car within two months (all repaired by BMW and only BMW), gazed at the car for nothing almost daily, find excuses to drive her in the middle of the night, offer to drive my girlfriend around, purchased a monthly pass to a local car wash, started parking in the rear of any parking lot, bought a Escort Passport 9500 and had it custom installed, wiped her down in the middle of the night, only valet her at work and only when the valet guy I know personally is working, and constantly check gasprices.com daily. I've wanted a BMW since the late 80's. I've had a Nissan and Acura before this and this car is just different to drive. I haven't driven a lot of cars but so far, nothing is the same. Sigh. I want another BMW.

Hahahahaha funny thread.
90% percent of the things mentioned here happen to me . . . The thing i hate the most is when it rains and i have to take the car for a drive after i took 2 hours washing the car by hand, cleaning the interiors . . . ![]() I have a couple rules for my car: *No one eats inside *If someone brings something to drink they are only allowed to bring bottles inside nothing else *No one is allowed to get in the car with dirty shoes, sweaty or smelling like crap *No smoking *A maximum of 2 passenger (Except in special occasions) and they must put their feet on all weather floor mat *No one is allowed to lean on the car *No one drives it except ME!

I forgot one, everytime i go somewhere (especially malls) i always take my time to look for the parking spot with a corner or a concrete pillar and park as close as possible to that side.

Unfortunately I discovered a serious hazard related to parking should you have this terrible affliction (BMWITUS). For example, I usually park in the remotest area of the parking lot as most of this thread, the problem is that I invariably send myself in harm's way every time I park because as I walk to the store I am always gazing back at my machine not paying attention to parking lot traffic. This is a serious issue that I have worked on over the years.

I'm almost the opposite now.
This is my 6th BMW and although I used to have BMWitis, now it's just a car. My kid rides in the back with soccer cleats, football helmet or whatever. He eats and spills food on the seats (sh*t wipes off you know). The 120 pound Rottweiler rides in the back sometimes too. I got a scuff on the bumper from somebody parking too close and I said 'meh'. It gets washed once in a while too (right now it's covered in road salt and muck). All that said, I LOVE driving this thing. Every other car pales by comparison. Everything just is RIGHT about the way it rides, runs and handles. I too will go out to the garage just to look at it and sometimes do sit inside with a glass of Scotch and just enjoy the feel. 'nuff said. |

Is it "dine behind the wheel" (as in A&W's 60's kerb service) or "die behind the wheel"?

HOLY COW! I like my car but compare to you guys, I don't deserve my BMW. I guess to me it is just a car. Just think if you guys owned a really expensive car. You guys would have to be committed:

I'm sure most of us here would have a petro atrium, like they are building in a high rise in Singapore.
